Summary

The new JCB 540-200 has a 5-piece boom for our biggest Loadall reach – 20m. It’s powered by our proven DIESELMAX engine and made using only the finest components.

Key Benefits

5-piece boom with 20m reach
Huge forward reach lifting capability
Innovative hydraulic system
Tried and proven DIESELMAX engine
Superb durability without excess bulk
Safe, comfortable and easy to service

  • Formidable forward reach capability (200kg at 15.9m, 1500kg at 8.9m) means the 540-200 can reach across typical building foundations easily. This Loadall can also lift and place 1500kg loads to a height of 20m: ideal for handling brick pallets.
  • Our 540-200 Loadall has a 5-piece boom design. This cleverly combines a hydraulic ram and chains to extend or retract all the sections proportionally in one fast, smooth movement. What’s more, it’s all operated from just one lever.
  • JCB’s new efficient EcoMAX T4i engine produces its power and torque at low engine speeds for great responsiveness, while the flow-sharing hydraulic system – which proportionally splits flow to different services – allows the boom to be lifted and extended simultaneously.
  • The 540-200 can be used in many conditions and applications because our sway chassis keeps it level on uneven ground. What’s more, its stabilizer legs have a wide spread to maximize operator confidence and load capacity throughout the lift envelope.
  • This telescopic handler offers fast cycle times, courtesy of its electro servo hydraulics and high-flow 110 l/min hydraulic pump. Expect fast and productive handling of loads at height.
  • Excellent manoeuvrability and quick travel times are part of the package; a compact wheelbase and large steering lock angles (like our smaller 17m telehandler) provide a tight turning circle.
  • 540-200 Loadalls come with 4WD as standard (optional 2WD can also be selected to minimize tire wear and fuel use when roading). This helps you to maintain plenty of traction and performance in soft, muddy areas. A limited slip differential in the front axle is an option too.
  • A JCB 540-200 has three selectable steer modes. There’s two-wheel steer, which is ideal for travelling at high speed on the road; four-wheel steer for working in tight spaces; and crab steer for manoeuvring close to walls and buildings.
  • An optional reversing fan can be used to clear dust and debris from the cooling system to maintain performance.
  • For added versatility, all JCB Loadalls are fitted as standard with a single boom auxiliary feature which can power a wide range of attachments. The JCB quickhitch system makes attachment changing quick and easy.
  • 55kW (75hp) and 81kW (109hp) JCB EcoMAX telescopic handler engines are fitted with a variable speed cooling fan that automatically reacts to ambient temperature, adjusting fan speed for maximum economy and minimum noise.
  • The new 75hp high-torque engine provides productivity and maximum efficiency. By producing high levels of power and torque even at engine speeds as low as 1300–1400rpm, EcoMAX can provide fuel-efficient matching of transmission and hydraulics.
  • Many competitor telehandlers require a DPF to meet Tier 4 interim legislation. Among the numerous benefits of this setup is the fact that there’s no productivity loss during DPF regeneration.
  • Innovative all-new hydraulic regeneration technology uses a pilot-operated counterbalance valve to harness gravitational forces during boom lowering and retraction. This exclusive JCB feature helps to reduce cycle times by up to 20% and fuel consumption by 4.4%.
  • An LED screen provides Loadall operators with useful information for efficient running, like fuel remaining, fuel used since last fill, and current average fuel consumption figures.
  • A JCB 540-200 Loadall is a great asset in so many respects, not least financially – huge global demand, plus legendary productivity, plus superb build quality equals maximum resale value.
  • Your telehandler’s engine can be remapped to run on lower-grade fuels, which means your machine (where legislation permits) can be resold across many different territories, with a corresponding boost to residual values.
  • With a variable geometry turbo for excellent performance at low revs, you can expect greater fuel efficiency*. We’ve also reduced the Powershift oil level for a 1% energy boost.
  • The 540-200 has a precise high-speed double boom chain extension system to maximize job site efficiency.
  • This Loadall’s security system is Thatcham-approved (depending on territory), which means you could benefit from lower insurance premiums.
  • The boom sections on this Loadall are made from two U-shaped high strength steel pressings that are longitudinally welded to each other along the neutral axis. For ultimate strength and durability, we’ve built in large boom overlaps of up to 1.4m.
  • Hoses are routed through the boom for maximum protection; engine hoods are protected from damage by being side-mounted on the chassis and recessed; and fold-up rear lights can be kept clear and well protected from on-site damage.
  • The one-piece fully welded chassis maximizes strength and minimizes weight, while heavy-duty axle feet help this JCB telescopic handler to absorb the stresses generated during material rehandling applications.
  • A 540-200 Loadall has a boom that’s mounted low in the chassis, providing an extremely rigid structure and maximum over-the-shoulder visibility. Centralized lift and displacement rams ensure load stresses are evenly distributed.
  • The new JCB Loadall range’s stringent testing program has included prolonged high stress loading of the chassis, boom and other key components, as well as cold climate testing and repeated transmission use over thousands of cycles.
  • Overall structural strength on the 540-200 is excellent with the use of a supporting boom lift ram and this is improved still further by keyhole castings. The one-piece fully welded chassis maximises strength and minimises weight.
  • Our finite element analysis and rig testing processes ensure the machine’s structural strength and durability. Cold cell testing guarantees starting performance down to -20˚C.
  • EcoMAX has been tested for 110,000 hours in 70 different machines across the toughest applications and environments. Our telescopic handlers benefit from JCB-built hydraulic cylinders, cabs, axles, transmissions and engines – all designed to work in perfect harmony for optimum reliability.
  • A stringent testing programme has included prolonged high stress loading of the 540-200 Loadall’s chassis, boom and other key components, as well as cold climate testing and repeated transmission use over thousands of cycles.
  • To protect our construction Loadalls from corrosion over the long term, we dip the cab in electrophoretic alloy before painting it.

A low boom profile and low boom pivot make for excellent rearward visibility on the JCB 540-200 Loadall, likewise the full set of side and rear-view mirrors. Because EcoMAX doesn’t use a DPF, the bonnet line is lower, improving both visibility and manoeuvrability.

In many territories, our Loadall security system is Thatcham-approved. The package comprises a JCB LiveLink telematic GPS vehicle tracker, an immobiliser and a Cesar Datatag.

The cab is Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) and Falling Objects Protection System (FOPS) certified, so operators are safe at all times. Sway frames enable an operator to make their telehandler absolutely level before commencing lifting.

To protect bystanders, a reverse alarm is standard-fit on the JCB 540-200, and an operator presence switch disables drive when your operator isn’t seated, preventing accidental operation.

Our factory-fit immobilisers can result in reduced insurance premiums. You can choose whether your immobiliser is operated by a key or a 4-digit code keypad that automatically arms itself after a set period of time following engine shutdown.

Cesar is a simple and effective method of machine identification and registration that’s operated by police across the UK and Ireland. JCB fully supports this initiative and we fit it as standard to all UK telescopic handlers.

Hose burst check valves (HBCVs) are fitted as standard to the rams, preventing a collapse in the event of hose failure.

LiveLink tracking provides valuable real-time machine location data. Geofencing alerts help to ensure your machine is only used in specified areas.

  • Cab access on a JCB 540-200 telescopic handler is very safe, with three points of contact, ergonomically positioned grab handles and two steps. The operator presence switch disables drive when an operator leaves their seat; this prevents accidental operation.
  • JCB construction Loadalls have hose burst check valves (HBCVs) to protect the rams from collapse in the event of a hose failure. For extra safety, bystanders are safeguarded by our standard-fit reversing alarm.
  • The low boom profile and pivot means that operators get excellent rear visibility; there’s also a full set of side and rear-view mirrors to enhance all-round visibility and safety compliance.
  • Opt for front and top screen roof guards for added protection from falling objects on your telehandler.
  • JCB factory-fit immobilisers can either be activated by a unique key or optional push button PIN system which automatically arms the system after a certain period following engine shutdown.
  • JCB’s innovative boom chain system uses large chains for added peace of mind while operating the 540-200 Loadall. All chains are also doubled for even more reassurance.

  • The fact that we design our construction Loadalls to be fast and easy to service ensures that we have best-in-class SAE serviceability ratings.
  • Most Tier 4 Interim engines use a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). A JCB telehandler’s EcoMAX unit doesn’t. That means no worrying about loss of productivity during the regeneration process and potential extra expense in replacing DPFs.
  • All daily checks, greasing and serviceable components can be accessed at ground level. The diesel tank is also easily accessible, and can be filled from ground level. An integral pre-filter in the filler neck protects against dirty fuel.
  • You can access a construction Loadall’s battery easily (and without specialist tools) via a lockable cover that’s opened with the ignition key. A dry lubricant system means that wear pads are extremely durable, with service intervals of 500 hours.
  • The filters on these telescopic handlers (engine oil, hydraulic oil and fuel) are centrally located for fast, easy servicing. The air filter is easily accessible too, and its double element design simplifies cleaning.
  • An optional reversing fan can be used to clear dust and debris from the cooling system to maintain performance.

JCB’s innovative Clean Burn technology helps EcoMAX to meet T4F/Stage IV regulations using a sealed-for-life SCR system instead of exhaust after-treatments like DPFs. Benefits include the fact that you don’t have to worry about costly time-consuming DPF regeneration and replacement.

An LED screen on the JCB 540-200 Loadall’s dash provides useful information for efficient running, like fuel remaining, fuel used since last fill, current average fuel consumption, DEF level and any current warnings.

By producing high levels of power and torque even at engine speeds as low as 1300rpm, EcoMAX can provide fuel-efficient matching of transmission and hydraulics.

JCB telescopic handlers enjoy proven demand supported by legendary productivity and build quality, ensuring high residuals the world over. EcoMAX can be adapted to run on lower-grade fuels, making Construction Loadalls easily resalable across different territories, boosting residuals further still.

Class-leading JCB hydraulics produce the fastest cycle times, ensuring the most efficient lifting, extending and pushing. A variable speed cooling fan automatically reacts to ambient temperature, adjusting fan speed for maximum economy and minimum noise.

The JCB 540-200 Construction Loadall telehandler boasts excellent manoeuvrability and fast travel times across site, courtesy of a compact wheelbase and large steering lock angles.

With 4WD as standard, you get plenty of traction and performance even in soft, muddy areas. 2WD can be selected to minimise tyre wear and fuel use.

The JCB EcoMAX T4F engine delivers 109hp (81kW) of power and 512Nm of torque at just 1300 rpm (likewise the 93kW/550Nm option), offering you optimum response, as well as improved cycle times and tractive effort.

JCB’s optional Smoothride System (SRS) improves load retention and increases operator comfort (and therefore productivity) when travelling at speed on the road or on uneven fields. You can now also engage SRS manually with the boom in any position.

Multi-function single lever servo control provides fast and accurate load placement. Controlling your 540-200 Loadall’s direction is easy too, with just a flick of a switch.

The 81kW (109hp) and 93kW (125hp) EcoMAX engine options are fitted with a variable speed cooling fan that automatically reacts to ambient temperature, adjusting fan speed for maximum economy and minimum noise. An optional reversing fan can clear dust and debris from your telescopic handler’s cooling system to maintain performance.

The JCB 520-200 Loadall’s regenerative hydraulics harness gravitational forces, diverting oil back to the rams while the arm is lowering. This exclusive JCB feature helps to reduce cycle times by up to 20% and fuel consumption by 4.4%.

A precise high-speed double boom chain extension system helps this unique telescopic handler to maximise job site efficiency. Electro servo hydraulics and a high-flow 110 l/min hydraulic pump also ensure fast cycle times.

With its remarkable forward reach capabilities (200kg at 15.9m, 1500kg at 8.9m), a JCB 540-200 offers productive support throughout any build, reaching across typical building foundations with ease.

Our innovative 5-piece boom design combines a hydraulic ram and chains to extend or retract all the sections proportionally in one fast, smooth movement. What’s more, it’s all operated from just one lever.

With its sway chassis, you can keep the 540-200 level on uneven ground. The stabiliser legs also provide a wide spread to maximise operator confidence and load capacity throughout the lift envelope.

Changing attachments is easy thanks to the combination of JCB quickhitch and an auxiliary hydraulics venting valve operated by a button in the cab.

Fluid filters (engine oil, hydraulic oil and fuel) are centrally located for fast, easy servicing. The air filter is easily accessible too, and its double-element design simplifies cleaning; yet another reason why JCB Construction Loadalls have best-in-class SAE serviceability ratings.

All daily checks and greasing on the JCB 540-200 can be performed at ground level. It’s also easy to fill the diesel and AdBlue tanks from ground level, with both tanks equipped with pre-filters in the filler necks to guard against dirt and contaminants.

You can access the battery easily on this telescopic handler (and without specialist tools) via a lockable cover that’s opened with the ignition key.

A dry lubricant system means the JCB 540-200’s wear pads are extremely durable, with service intervals of 500 hours.

This telehandler doesn’t use DPF technology, so there’s no loss of productivity during the regeneration process, nor the extra expense of replacing a DPF.

To prove how good our EcoMAX engines are, we’ve tested them for 110,000 hours in 70 different machines across the toughest applications and environments.

Heavy-duty axle feet help the JCB 540-200 Construction Loadall telehandler to absorb the immense stresses generated during continuous heavy material rehandling applications, while a one-piece fully welded chassis maximises strength and minimises weight.

There’s a tough U-shaped boom pressing with fully welded closing plates. For extra strength, there are large boom overlaps of up to 1.0m; we’ve also reduced joints and stress points across our integrated boom nose and one-piece closing plate.

To provide long-term corrosion protection, we dip JCB Construction Loadall cabs in electrophoretic ally prior to painting. Keyhole castings hold the tilt and extension rams in place to further improve overall structural integrity.

Hydraulic hoses are intelligently routed through the boom for maximum protection; the bonnet is side-mounted, which protects it from site damage; and rear lights fold up to keep them clear and well protected from damage when working on site.

The boom on a JCB 540-200 Construction Loadall telehandler is mounted low in the chassis, providing an extremely rigid structure and maximum over-the-shoulder visibility.

The new Construction Loadall range’s stringent testing programme has included prolonged high stress loading of the chassis, boom and other key components, as well as repeated transmission use over thousands of cycles.

Optional front and top screen roof guards offer additional protection from falling debris.
